Another of our precious members of the Voices of Hope Evangelistic Team, Wanda Conrad, passed from her earthly home to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 22, 2023.

Wanda married the love of her life, Cary J. Conrad and loved being step-mother to Cary's children.  Wanda and Cary worked for Canadian Pacific Railroad where Wanda was a Manager.  They retired to Turtletown, Tennesse, and Wanda said it reminded her of where she grew up…mountains and a mining town.

Wanda was a gymnast during her school years, was a golfer until her health issues forced her to stop.  She ministered with the Get In Step Line Dancers and the Copperhill Steppers at nursing homes, senior centers, assisted living centers as well as church and community functions.

In 2017, the Voices of Hope Evangelistic Team was formed and Wanda was one of the first members.  This group also ministered to many of the same places as the line dancers, leading singing of the old hymns and visiting with attendees.  Wanda was a valued, dedicated member and ministered with us at the Calhoun Awake America Prayer Meeting on Thursday before her passing.

One of our precious members of the Voices of Hope Evangelistic Team, Jeanette  Carpenter, age 93, while surrounded by her family peacefully passed from her earthly home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 5, 2023.

Jeanette was a kind, loving, Christian lady who was loved by all who were blessed to know her.  She was the Salutatorian of the 1947 graduating class of McCaysville High School.  She was a devoted wife and mother.  She loved reading, quilting, visiting with friends, reading the Bible and singing.

Jeanette loved the Lord and was a valued member of the Voices of Hope Evangelistic Team regularly attending church services, Awake America Prayer Meetings, and revivals and was an inspiration to so many as she once attended a revival 21 nights straight.

We believe Proverbs 31:10-21 describes her beautifully:

Jerry Carpenter

Another of our precious members of the Voices of Hope Evangelistic Team,

Jerry Carpenter, passed suddenly on Wednesday, May 21, 2025.

Jerry was a kind, loving Christian man who was big hearted and generous, always wanting to help others. He was loved by all who were blessed to know him. He spent many years tracing their family tree. Jerry loved the Lord and was a member of Maranatha Church of God of Prophecy, regularly attending church services.  When Voices of Hope Evangelistic Team was formed in 2017, Jerry was one of the first members and regularly represented the Team at Awake America Prayer Meetings, senior centers, nursing homes and revivals.

Jerry was famous locally for his peanut butter fudge and although he couldn't eat it himself, made it and shared it with all his friends as well as his doctors. One comment made was that it was better than any store-bought candy.

Two of Jerry's favorite gospel songs were "One More Valley," and "I Want to Stroll Over Heaven With You," lyrics below.

I Want to Stroll Over Heaven With You

If I survey all the good things that come to me from above

If I count all the blessings from the storehouse of love
I'd simply ask for the favor of him beyond mortal king
And I'm sure that he'd grant it again

I want to stroll over Heaven with you some glad day
When all our troubles and heartaches are vanished away
Then we'll enjoy the beauty where all things are new
I want to stroll over Heaven with you.

We pray that Jerry is strolling over heaven with his many friends and loved ones who preceded him to Heaven.

Jeanette (Mom) Carpenter

10 Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.
11 The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil.
12 She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.
13 She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands.
14 She is like the merchants' ships; she bringeth her food from afar.
15 She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens.
16 She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard.
17 She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms.
18 She perceiveth that her merchandise is good: her candle goeth not out by night.
19 She layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff.
20 She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy.
21 She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet.
22 She maketh herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple.
23 Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land.
24 She maketh fine linen, and selleth it; and delivereth girdles unto the merchant.
25 Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come.
26 She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.
27 She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.
28 Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.
29 Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all.
30 Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised.
31 Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.

This expresses the sentiment that Wanda frequently shared when dealing with her health issues.Th

is

"If I should lose my earthly life today, I will be worshipping with the angels, praising with the saints, and basking in the glow of Your presence in my heavenly home where there is no more sin, no more sickness, no more tears, no more worries, no more suffering…fully free at last..."

Revelation 21:4:  And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes;
there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying.
There shall be no more pain,
for the former things have passed away.
